School Surf & Ski Trip Websites on Custom WordPress
Schools Go Surfing and Schools Go Skiing are paired bespoke WordPress sites built from client designs: GSAP animations, sticky destination maps, easy ACF editing, and migration to faster hosting.
Overview
Will and Robbie from Schools Go Surfing and Schools Go Skiing wanted straightforward websites that matched their designs and were simple to run day to day. They needed a code-based WordPress solution, not the weight of a page builder like Elementor, so the sites stayed fast, clear, and easy for schools to browse trip options.
I delivered two custom WordPress themes from client-supplied designs: one for surf trips, one for ski, sharing the same modular structure but with separate branding, colours, and a few site-specific features. I handled DNS and hosting setup, moving them off slow legacy hosting onto a faster platform without downtime. Both sites are fully responsive and built for real enquiry journeys: destinations, what is included, testimonials, booking forms, and team content.
GSAP and scroll-driven animation add movement without cluttering the layout. Destination pages use a sticky map that stays visible while you scroll, highlighting each location as it comes into view. A small cross-site touch on the ski site adds seasonal snowfall when visitors arrive from surf (via #snow), kept lightweight so it does not hurt performance.
